Initial Ideas

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVeMiVU77wo In the video by alt-J- breezeblocks I like the effect where it retells the story by reversing the video. This would be a good idea for my idea as it would explain why she wanted to die in the first place. It is also quite an indie genre like lana del rey so it could be conventional

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyY5upiRO8Q Night light by Jessie Ware, is something i'd quite like to base a bit of my story and cinematography around. The black and white through it was i'd like to add on to my song to create nostaligia. Also the shot on the right is what i'd like to recreate for my chorus but instead of a white background i black, or dark fairy-tale one instead done by the green screen. The reason i like this idea is due to the cinematography and the message it creates to the audience. Its like a dream and then panning around the couple shows them trapped with each other in love. The fairytale would link with typical conventions of these type of music videos like my previous research on christina Perri. It also makes use of lighting throughout the music video as well. To link in with lyrics, i would also want to copy this idea too within my video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqBtS6BIP1E I like the use of the fade editing within this song. I would incorporate this into mine when it goes onto the chorus of her dreaming about being in the dark paradise with him. Fade definition 'The timing of the fades indicates the importance of the change in time and/or location between scenes — a slower fade with more time spent on black indicates a more significant end/beginning. A fairly quick fade to and from black could indicate a time lapse of a few minutes or hours, whereas a long drawn-out fade indicates a much bigger change.' However Due to my storyline being her memory i would choose to do this to represent how this can only be within in her dreams so it shows it by this beginning and end not being reality. Dream like.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdrL3QxjyVw most lana del rey songs use an old camera because her persona is meant to be a 60's girl.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrTB-iiecqk I like the use of slow motion in this song. It adds effect at that moment in this particular scene. 'Slow motion can also be used for artistic effect, to create a romantic or suspenseful aura or to stress a moment in time.' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slow-motion -Therefore this would be good in my video for when the singer finds out about her boyfriends death or when she is about to end her life. Also Images overlapping would be great for the begining of my song as the first location i want to portray is her near a river/water due to the begining of the song talking about lying in the ocean. Therefore i would love to start the singer with her refelction in water singing. I could create this effect by this technique. The use of shadows in this video also adds great effect. In my video i could use this to represent the singer is always in darkness accept for certain times when she may start to see some light in life getting better without the guy but then it goes back to dark as it goes over her face showing a contrast. I would do this in the same way radiohead did this.

Green Screen idea
The imagery for this part of the song is in mind 'dark paradise' therefore i googled dark paradise to see what would come up. Also for this part of the song it will break the constant black and white setting all the way through and the singer will regain colour to contrast with the dark paradise. Here are some images I would choose on for this background:
